Opportunity Grants provide educational access and support for low-income
adults to progress further and faster along demand career pathways.
NSCC has identified
the following four pathways which fall within important industry clusters in
King/Snohomish Counties that would give Opportunity Grant eligible students
career choices:
- Certified Nursing Assistant to Registered Nurse
- Information Technology for Healthcare
- Accounting
- Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
Services & Benefits Provided
- Student awards for tuition and mandatory fees as well as additional assistance with the cost of books, transportation and tutoring.
- Individualized support services provided and funded by NSCC
Eligibility Requirements
All individuals meeting the following requirements are eligible to participate in the Opportunity Grant program.
- Washington resident student as defined by RCW 28B.15.012
- Enrolled in an Opportunity Grant-eligible program of study
- Family income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level using the most current guidelines available from the United States Department of Health & Human Services (see income limits below)
- Have financial need based on the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid)
- Have not received Opportunity Grant funding for more than 45 credits or more than 3 years from initial receipt of grant funds in one or a combination of programs (including required related courses in a program)
- Maintains a cumulative 2.0 grade point average
- Do not have a previous US college degree (Associates or higher)

Documentation Requirements
Applicants for the program must provide the following documentation:
- Picture ID
- Social Security Card
- Proof of citizenship or Alien Registration Card
- Proof of income from all who contribute to the household
- Documentation of the number of family members (e.g. Social Security Cards for all members of household, including children)
