Photo: Students practice blood draw techniques. Our fully accredited Medical Assisting Program is a one-year certificate program offering classes in a flexible, modular, self-paced format with both daytime and evening hours. The program is at a minimum, five quarters long and is comprised of 69 credits including an externship component, and may be taken in its entirety for a certificate of achievement.

The current state of the medical field offers numerous job opportunities for medical assistants. A graduate of the Medical Assisting program may qualify for such jobs as: front or back office medical assistant, office assistant, receptionist, EKG technician, lab assistant or aide, blood donor technician, billing clerk, medical coder, health care assistant, or phlebotomist. NSCC faculty keep updated on news of interest to Medical Assisting student and professionals as well as current job needs in the industry, maintaining a current list of jobs in the field for program graduates.

Students may also opt to earn additional general education credits to receive an Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health Services in addition to completion of the Medical Assistant Certificate Program.
