If you have experience providing anesthesia technical support and want to both broaden your knowledge and acquire formal certification, the new Anesthesia Technical Services Certificate program at North is for you. The 19-credit program helps to prepare you to take the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) national certification exam. NSCC's Anesthesia Technical Services Certificate program is endorsed by the Board of the Washington State Society of Anesthesiologists.
Program Features:
- NSCC program prepares incumbent, uncertified anesthesia technicians for the national certification exam.
- 19-credit program includes six classes offered entirely online.
- Uses Angel ANGEL LMS (learning management system) online delivery model for lectures via podcast, PowerPoint presentations, videos, online material, and interactive simulation models.
- Cutting-edge simulation technology allows students to interface with the most popular anesthesia machines. NSCC is developing its own simulations as well as utilizing those already commercially available.
- Anticipated partnerships include Northwest Hospital, Swedish Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, the University of Washington Medical Center, Overlake Hospital, Seattle Children’s Hospital and other sites.
- Strongly supported by local hospitals, providing standardization for a crucial area of healthcare.
- Program is developed under funding from a three-year Department of Labor Community-Based Job Training Grant, in partnership with the Seattle Community College District and Seattle Vocational Institute.

Prerequisites
- Program advisor permission (contact HHS division for details)
- One of the following:
- LPN license, Medical Assisting certification, NREMT-P (paramedic), or equivalent professional certification, and 2600 hours anesthesia support experience
- Minimum 2600 hours work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or equivalent
- Equivalent, documented prior experience, training, and education
- MATH098 (or higher) placement within 2 years of application date, or proof of satisfactory completion of MATH097 (equivalent or higher) within past 5 years (see placement testing for details)
- ENGL&101 placement within 2 years of application date, or proof of satisfactory completion of ENGL097/ENGL098 (equivalent or higher) within past 5 years (see placement testing for details)
- Intermediate-level computer skills, or familiarity with online learning (see eLearning for details)
- Washington State Patrol background check (contact HHS division for details)
- Attend a mandatory on-line orientation session (see calendar for schedule)
